41 Lakh Children in the age group of 15 to 18 years in the country were given the dose of anti-Covid-19 vaccines on 3 January. The vaccination of children in this age group was started amid the growing outbreak of ‘Omicron’, a new form of coronavirus infection. Vaccine doses are being given to children at Delhi’s Fortis Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and other centres.
As per provisional figures, while 41,27,468 doses of Covaxin were administered to the 15-18 years age group, the total vaccination figure reached 146.71 crores. With 33,750 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours, the active caseload touches 1,45,582; The daily positivity rate is 3.84 percent.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has already informed the states and union territories that only children in the age group of 15 to 18 years will be given the vaccine. For this additional doses of Covaxin will also be made available to all the States and Union Territories. The process of registration on the Kovin portal has started on January 3 for the vaccination of children. They can directly register to get the vaccine by going to Vaccination.
