HIGHLIGHTS:

Yesterday Delhi recorded the highest number of 17,335 COVID cases in a single day since May 8 and 9 deaths taking the positivity rate to 17.73%. Delhi has 20,000 cases on Saturday where the positivity rate has increased by almost 20% in a day. Migrant workers working in Delhi are apprehensive that another lockdown may be imposed in view of the increasing cases of omicrons and coronaviruses.
750 Doctors and hundreds more nurses and paramedics from six hospitals in Delhi are suffering from COVID-19 infection. While most of them have mild symptoms and are in home isolation to rest, this has taken away a large part of the workforce, resulting in hospitals shutting down routine clinics and surgeries.

Health Minister Satyendar Jain also said that “Delhi will report around 20,000 fresh cases today, positivity rate to rise by 1-2%. Currently, only 10% of hospital beds are occupied in the city,”.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Saturday that the Delhi government has decided to increase a total of 5,650 Covid beds and 2,075 ICU beds for corona patients in its 14 hospitals. He said that the Delhi government has already made all its arrangements right. Things are normal now. That is why the Delhi government is making all its preparations loudly so that the situation does not worsen.
