HIGHLIGHTS:

INCREASE IN CYBERCRIME: Cybercrime cases registered an expansion of 11.8% in last year, a year when the greater part of the crime rates fell, as indicated by the Crime in India 2020 report.
A large part of the increase in cybercrime came from states such as Telangana and Maharashtra, while cases in the top 20 major cities rose to just 0.8%, suggesting that more individuals were being targeted in smaller cities.
4 significant metro cities, Mumbai reported 2,433 cases, Chennai reported 186 cases, and Kolkata reported 172 cases. Bengaluru recorded the highest number of cybercrime cases at 8,892.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) information, cybercrime in the country increased from 3.3% in 2019 to 3.7% in 2020. In 2019, 44,735 cases of cybercrime were registered in the country, as against 27,248 of every 2018.
The most recent National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) information, Delhi recorded the least 166 cases of cybercrime. Cybercrime in the national capital saw an increment in 2020 when contrasted with 2019 when it registered 107 such cases.

105 cases of cyber-stalking and harassment were registered in Mumbai, 2 cases were registered in Chennai. 2 cases of OTP fraud, 19 cases of online banking fraud, 6 cases of fraud and 9 different cases were registered in Delhi in 2020.
