Katie Diagnosed With Bre*st Cancer

In an essay published on June 21, 2022, Wednesday on her eighth wedding anniversary with her second husband John Molner, Katie discloses that she has bre*st cancer.

Her family has a history of cancer, At the age of 52 her first husband Jay Monahan died of colon cancer and her sister died because of pancreatic cancer when she was 54,

But fortunately, her parents’ father John Martin Couric Jr., Mother Elinor Hene, and second husband John Molner all of them won a battle against various types of cancer.

She told how she found it too “I was in the middle of an open office, so I walked to a corner and spoke quietly, my mouth unable to keep up with questions swirling in my head.

” for six months she postpones her mammogram she told “I felt sick, and the room started to spin” when she was at radiologist Dr. Susan Drossman.

On July 14, before a bre*st-conserving surgery lumpectomy, she had two pre-operation procedures. And undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

She requested women to not delay their mammograms as they could help in early detection, she added “My left bre*st does look like I’ve been sunbathing topless, other than that I’ve felt fine.”

She talked about how “unfathomable” it would be for her two daughters Ellie and Carrie to lose their mother to cancer when they already lost their father.

She talked about how thankful she was to God, the scientist who dedicate their life to us, and new medical technology that could easily detect life-threatening diseases “I can’t tell you how many times during this experience I thanked God that I was in 2022”
