Prime Minister Modi Will Inaugurate Key Railway Projects In Gujarat

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Some Redeveloped amenities of Gandhinagar Capital railway station.
  • Electrification of Surendranagar and Pipavav Section

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a line of rail projects in Gujarat today. Projects include redeveloped Gandhinagar Capital railway station, newly –electrified Surendranagar- Pipavav line, and gauge transformed cum electrified Mahesana- Varetha line. He will also flag off two new trains named Gandhinagar Capital- Varanasi Superfast Express and Electric service trains between Gandhinagar Capital and Varetha.

The inauguration of projects will be done at 4:30 pm.

Some Redeveloped amenities of Gandhinagar Capital railway station.

  1. Disabled friendly station with special ticket counter, lifts.
  2. Ample parking space.
  3. Daily theme based lighting with 32 pre installed themes.
  4. Five star hotel run by the private company.

The redevelopment project alone cost Rs 71 crore.

Electrification of Surendranagar and Pipavav Section has been done to provide healthy freight movement. The whole project’s estimated cost is around 289 crore.

The Prime Minister talked about these projects on Twitter saying “I have always wanted our Railway Stations to be of top quality, where apart from travels there is a boost to commerce, hospitality and more. One such effort has been made in Gandhinagar. The upgraded station will be inaugurated tomorrow,”.
