VIRAT KOHLI LEAVING CAPTAINCY: Virat Kohli declared that he would step down from India T20 captaincy after the T20 World Cup 2021, he had recommended to the BCCI committee that Rohit Sharma be dropped as the vice-captain of India’s ODI Match.
Virat has referenced that he will continue the captaincy in the ODI and Test Match. The responsibility of the executives, Virat has decided to leave the Indian captaincy. It is important that there have been reports of Virat leaving the captaincy of the restricted format after the T20 World Cup and presently the Indian captain has made it official.
Kohli in his tweet said that “I have been fortunate enough to not only represent India but also lead the Indian Cricket Team to my utmost capability. I thank everyone who has supported me in my journey as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. I couldn’t have done it without them- the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coaches and each and every Indian who prayed for us to win”
Kohli also said that” I have given everything to the Team during my time as T20 Captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 Team as a batsman moving forward.”
It is very important to understand my workload and considering my immense workload of the 3 formats in the last 8-9 years and captaining consistently for the last 5-6 years, I feel that I have the right to lead the Indian Team. You need to give yourself space to be completely ready for it in test and one-day cricket.
